Why My Experience in Every Trade Matters

June 29, 2026

Doing the work yourself is the only way to truly know it inside and out. Over five decades in this industry, I’ve picked up a thing or two—setting forms, pouring concrete, framing walls, running plumbing and electrical, hanging drywall, you name it. Not many parts of a custom home are a mystery to me because, frankly, I’ve done them all. When I walk a job site, I’m not just checking on progress; I’m evaluating every piece of work as if I were the one who nailed it in place. If something is off with the framing or the plumbing, I can see it, and even more importantly, I know how to fix it.

For homeowners, this means you’re not left hoping every subcontractor knows his job as well as he should. You have a builder who can communicate directly and knowledgeably with every sub on the project. I’m not relying on others to catch mistakes because I see them myself before they become issues that cost time and money later. I can answer questions from subs out of my own experience, not out of a manual. And while I’ve been at this for a while, it’s still surprising how much I learn on almost every job. It keeps the work fresh and helps make the next home even better than the last.

If the idea of working with a builder whose hands have been on every trade appeals to you, call me. We can talk about making your custom home a reality. If you want a builder whose hands have done every trade on your home, call Turner directly at (210) 913-8000, any day of the week.
