A Family Legacy Rooted in San Antonio

Turner

Growing up in San Antonio, I was steeped in a rich tradition of building, thanks in large part to my family’s deep roots here. We’ve been in this city since the 1800s, and it’s where my father and great-uncle started hammering nails and pouring concrete back in the 1940s and ’50s. San Antonio was a different place then, yet the principles of solid craftsmanship and integrity they practiced still hold true today. My father went on to pioneer tilt-wall warehouse construction in Central Texas, cementing a legacy that I’ve spent a lifetime endeavoring to build upon.
My own journey with the building trade began when I was just 15, pouring concrete in those hot Texas summers. By 16, I was framing houses, and while still in high school, I found myself up on roofs. It’s this hands-on experience that taught me the importance of quality work. After college, I tried my hand at various ventures but found that my calling was back here in San Antonio. In 1999, I got into land development, buying tracts of 50 to 500 acres, and as I ventured further out into the Hill Country, I found a new canvas but with the same foundational skills honed in San Antonio.
Today, Paradise Custom Homes is based on the north side of San Antonio, near Bulverde. Most of our trade partners and suppliers are part of this community, as are the standards and relationships we’ve nurtured through decades of work. While the homes we build now might sit on Hill Country acreage, everything that goes into them is grounded in that San Antonio heritage.
